Bonus points to people who get the reference in the subject header. (And if anyone knows what happened to my Swingline stapler, that would be nice.) Also, I'll be honest with you, I love his music, I do, I'm a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman." (hahaha.) "Seems like you've been missing a lot of work lately. " "I wouldn't say that I've been 'missing' it, Bob."

Random Things:
  • Life is good
  • I know unequivocally that if I post She's The Man fic you all will run like I'm shooting at you. Understood. *G*
  • My Emily has a project in 1rst grade where she's to interview an adult, then dress up like them and tell the class about that person. She informed her teacher that she couldn't interview me because I "only wear a bra to work." !!!! Um, how could she forget my red, white, and blue tassels? Emily also informed her that I'm "in movies [she] can't see." Great, now they'll think I'm in some pornos, instead of a horror movie. Hahaha, her teacher emailed me and let me know (she's a funny lady.) Turns out, she's a wanna be writer, too, so we chatted quite a bit about writing, books, etc. Very cool.
  • I have a second acting gig, I'll be taking staged family photos for it on Sunday (I won't miss the Super Bowl, I've been promised.) If you're interested, here's the movie info. It's in the beginning stages, so not a lot of info. The director is someone I worked on Blood on the Highway with, and he's been winning all sorts of Indie/short film awards for some of his other films. Pretty cool, and he's a really nice guy.
  • There is a major festival that Blood on the Highway has a showing, in the coveted midnight spot. I don't think I'm allowed to say officially, yet, but still: very cool.
  • I want a creme caramel (like flan) in my mouth this evening, followed by the delicious sounding wine the local wine brigade professes to be perfect with it (Campbells Rutherglen Muscat, Australia. Other notable wines listed: Rotta Black Monukka Dessert Sherry - I had a glass of this at Fearings and it is a FANTASTIC ending wine - Anselmi I Capitelli, 2003) Where did this wine love come from? Oh, right. I was out of Silver Patron and had to make do. *g*
  • I'm liking Pinot Noirs and Grigios now, one to try is The Four Graces, Willamette Valley, 2006.
  • (Sorry to bore some of you with this wine talk - I use this as a list maker for myself.)
  • I am almost all caught up on Battlestar Galactica (ep. 16, S3 is next, then the remaining eps, and finally Razor - NO SPOILERS, PLEASE) and I think it may be one of my most favorite shows EVER. I'm just going to put out there right now that I want Kara/Lee all the time. And then for them to be ripped apart. And then sweaty, angsty, "we can't keep doing this!" sex. Ungh. And I want Bill Adama and Laura Roslin to hold hands and rock on a porch, enjoying each others company. Hahahaha. Um, and more Cylons. :D
  • I'm having Pho for lunch today, and I'm very excited. Oooh, Lee. I think maybe I'll get that chicken curry soup again. YUMMY FLAVORS IN MY MOUTH, PLEASE.
  • ...I think I'm brave enough to actually cut the silk fabric today. (omg, what if I didn't measure right??? *deep breath*

Um, I'm boring/random when there is no drama in my life. :)

Office Space!
Jan. 30th, 2008 03:21 pm (UTC)

Also, your icon is PLEASING TO ME. *hearts 30 Rock*

"Listen, our Founding Fathers had no intention of the poor reaching 40 years old." HEEE!

Someone beat me to it--but I was going to mention TPS report covers. ;)

So, you enjoy the wine, eh? Hie thee here, wherein there's a wiki description of one of my favorite BBC series, almost ever. I know it's available on torrents, but if you can't snag it, I'll burn you DVDs of them (once I get an external DVD burner, to make sure I take my precious data from my US computer to Australia).
Jan. 30th, 2008 03:22 pm (UTC)
HOORAY! Mmmmm, new shows about DELICIOUS THINGS. (I'm seeing them on my torrent site, so NO WORRIED, but thank you! *hugs*)

Get it? It's a jump to conclusions mat!

Hahhahahahahahahahahahahhahaa. I can't take it. I am crying so hard right now. God. That is the awesomeness.

Um. Ok, I just have to say this to you right now, because I care Stoney.

In what world is WINE talk boring?! Or BSG? Or kids tarnishing (polishing?) your reputation?

Not a world I wanna live in.
Jan. 30th, 2008 03:24 pm (UTC)
HEEEEEE. (Um, there's context for that, actually. I *was* in a movie that required me to have a trashy bra - long story - and because I usually have a sprog attached at the hip, she had to come shopping with me. I HAVE RUINED HER FRAGILE LITTLE MIND!!)

See, this is why is it WONDERFUL that you are back. You will talk TV, wine, delicious foods, coffee, and BSG with me! I didn't know you watched that show. I LOVE IT, SWM. LOVE.

Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays!

Easy Flan recipe:

Take a cup of sugar, carmelize (you can add a 1/4 of water if you like, but it'll take longer.

put this in a cake pan, coating sides and bottom.

One can condensed milk
One can evaporated milk
ten eggs.
splash vanilla

pour into prepared cake pan. Place in water bath in 325 oven for about 45 mins. Flip before serving.

Also, I have yet to see season 3 BG--have been waiting for DVDs. Is SciFi going to rerun them?
Jan. 30th, 2008 03:26 pm (UTC)
Okay, see, that's a WAY easier recipe than the one in the paper. I may have to try yours first, then the complicated one and see if all the fuss is worth it. Plus: double flan. \o/

Where are your 37 pieces of flair? (You know, the Nazis had pieces of flair for the Jews to wear.)

I think they start re-running them in a week? (I cheated and dl'ded them. I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.)

Oh, everyone will get that Office Space reference, yay, points!!!

I haven't seen She's the Man, partly because most Shakespeare adaptations make me itchy. But I bet your fic is good!

Huzzah for developments on the new movie front!

Among other things that arrived from Amazon yesterday: Bring it On. Now I'll finally be able to write that Missy/Torrance/Cliff threesome fic, yayayay!
Jan. 30th, 2008 03:46 pm (UTC)
Hahahahaha, I CAN APPRECIATE THAT. *tickles you*

I like to think of this space as a "free points a-go-go" type of journal. *beams*

I am very excited about it! This one is a drama, so I am happy about getting to exercise some chops.

OH YAY CAKES!! And Hurrah pie! I will read that fic, YES INDEED. Aw, I heart fun teen romances. Throw in cheerleading, and it's GOLD. As are you. *sticks you in Fort Knox for safekeeping*

I'm glad you're enjoying BSG! It comes back in April, I think they settled on. Heh.
Jan. 30th, 2008 04:01 pm (UTC)
HAHAHAHA. I could look out the window and there were squirrels and they were married and I could burn this place down.

GOODNESS SAKES, I'm loving BSG. I almost wished I waited another month to get into it so I wouldn't have any lag time! Woe.

(Also, just saw on your post that you're going to The Decemberists tonight! Oh, have FUN. Rock out for me!)

HBO's running "She's The Man" tomorrow. I'm just waiting until I see it before I read your story. No lie.

Cool on the new acting gig, but your daughter's spin on your chosen profession is cooler still! Did she forget the press on nails?

I'm in the middle of "Razor" as we speak. I love BSG!
Jan. 30th, 2008 04:33 pm (UTC)
Hahaha, OKAY! (Also, seriously, how much of a guilty pleasure is that movie? <3)

Heee! She *did* forget the long fake nails! Good hell, I hope I never have to wear nails that long for as long as I did. Urgh.

Oooooh. I plan on being to that point by this weekend. That show is TERRIFIC.

reposted comment because I can't edit because I am on a basic account for I will never give LJ money again...

Stoney, I'm having DRAMA in my life today, and not the good kind that gets you an imdb page. Stupid horrible drama caused by a stupid horrible person who is out to get me.

So all day as my mantra to get me through the quagmire of stupid, I am going to imagine that your statement, "YUMMY FLAVORS IN MY MOUTH" is a nifty.org story, because you KNOW there is a story called that.

And yes, I realize, that when dealing with possibly being blackmailed, ones' mantra should probably not be poorly written porn. But bad porn makes everything better. My Stoney taught me that.

Not to mention, hello? When in hell did I become a person people try to blackmail? And it's even LAME blackmail. This person clearly has not read "Blackmail for Fun and Profit."
Jan. 30th, 2008 04:34 pm (UTC)
AHAHAHA. If "Yummy flavors in my mouth" is *not* a bad porn title, it needs to be. *writes you a new story based on your requests*

I cannot believe someone is trying to blackmail you! Do you need to talk? Email/call if so! I have Texas Woman 'Tude and can handle up on some bidness, if necessary. *gets bowed up and rowdy*

Office Space FTW.

because I'm a big pussy... which is why I work at Initech to begin with.

No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

Also, people who don't like She's the Man fic are lame. Trufax.

She informed her teacher that she couldn't interview me because I "only wear a bra to work." !!!! I think I just scared the office with my shout of laughter. Oh, Miss Emily.

Nom nom nom, I want that Pad Thai again. SO FLIPPING GOOD. Good luck with the curtains today. *crosses fingers*

Dear Elementary school,
Emily's mother does not star in soft-core porn.

Thank you,

I want your Pad Thai, too! Maybe I need to get BOTH and bring them home.... YERM. HI BABY!

That is the funniest story I have ever heard. It's a good thing I wasn't drinking anything when I read your post, or I would've sprayed my monitor with cranberry juice.

I'm liking Pinot Noirs and Grigios now, one to try is The Four Graces, Willamette Valley, 2006.

Thanks for the rec. I've been getting into wines more and more but I still don't know very much about them.

Jan. 30th, 2008 04:38 pm (UTC)
Is that not terrible? I mean, hilarious, but OH MY GOD. hahaha. My child: bringing pain on her mother since '01. :D

I don't know much about wines, either. I know what I like, which... isn't helpful when branching out. *g* Our local paper has a weekly wine guide with the wine panel's suggestions, and so far, I've liked everything they've printed. If you get that Four Graces before me, tell me what you think!

(So far the best wine I've ever had was Silver Oak, 2003. Holy crap. Party in my MOUTH. I think I really like Burgundies, too.)

OH!! Before I forget (uhm, obviously too late because I meant to tell you about this forever ago), I don't know how much they are wanting BotH to be in festivals, but Birmingham has a really, really great festival each September. (It was named one of the "ten fantastic film festivals" along with Austin and San Diego in Film Festival Today recently.) Anyway, if they are interested, here's the website for Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival.

I am a HUGE fan of this festival as it brings a lot of great filmmakers and independent films to Birmingham.
Jan. 30th, 2008 04:39 pm (UTC)
I WILL MENTION IT! I'll see the producer from BotH this Sunday, and I'll ask him if he's aware. Also, they're pretty sure they'll be at Dragon*Con, too. AWESOME.

Yay! for actress!Stoney. Also Yay! that Emily gives the impression that you are porn star by day and stripper by night. Best kid ever.

And dude, I have been craving homemade flan for DAYS. Do I make it? No. But the craving is strong.
Jan. 30th, 2008 11:13 pm (UTC)
GLARGH. I want to SWIM in your icon. Isn't that kid of mine the best ever? In ten years we'll all be working for her.... or dead by her hand.

I am lazy with the baked goods right now, too. I have to bake a birthday cake Friday, and I want all the flavors. (Is there such a thing as a Suicide cake?)
Jan. 30th, 2008 08:27 pm (UTC)
Bwah ha ha! Oh Emily, you are the coolest kid EVER. So glad that her teacher has a sense of humor! What a great idea for a class project -- totally for the teacher's amusement, don't you know it. Because, how CUTE! All these first graders, dressed up as the adult of their choice? They could sell tickets.

And you -- on to your second movie! Woo hoo! *applauds*

You sound chipper and happy today and it's good to see.

Hahahaha! Oh fantastic. But hey, Emily's mother is now a movie star! YAY!! Even if she is a half naked one with a crippling muscat addiction (hmmm muscat, the sweet, sweet crack of wines).

I want to see two Cylons rocking back and forth on a porch as their warranty years are behind them, lovingly reaching over to grind sections of rust off each other.

If you screw up the curtains you can always turn them into bras for your job.
Jan. 30th, 2008 11:17 pm (UTC)
And boob tassels! I need to learn how to make them go in opposite directions.

Dude, muscat is SO GOOD. One day I will be as knowledgeable on wines as you. Read: as big a lush. Any of your holiday bottles left? (I only have one bottle of champagne left from the 10 I bought for New Years. I spend the night alone. HAhahaha.)

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I freaking love that macro!!

Emily rocks my world. When she is older and we (necessarily I guess) are older and grayer, we are going to make her drink and play cards with us. She is that cool.

Man, I can't wait until she's 8 so we can drink and play cards. . .

The movie news is still awesome and I can't wait to hear more about the part.
Jan. 31st, 2008 01:26 am (UTC)
Congratulations on your new role! *does the dance of joy*

Doesn't BSG just kick all kinds of ass? I want to be Roslin when I grow up.

And yes, I also love Michael Bolton.

I'm sorry, I just can't say that with a straight face. Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Thank you! And (apparently) if this other director can get funding, he's got a big juicy part for me, too. WHOO and a HOO.

Dude, BSG is just tearing my heart into little pieces and blowing them out the door. I love that show so fiercely!!

(You do know that I was quoting a movie? Michael Bolton gives me the hives. HEEEEE!)

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
