OBEY YOUR MASTER!!!

It helps if you know the song by Metallica for the icon to work... Wanna know what all the dom stuff is about? Today is graduation day. Heading out in a few hours to walk the walk. All you punk-ass "bachelor of arts" wussies better go get me a piece of pie! You lookin' at your new MASTER beyotch! Aw, yeah, I'm hardcore GARDENER in yo face!

Ha ha ha! Seriously, though I am super excited about today. It was hard going back to school, then for this title, you have to give back several hundred hours of volunteer work to the community (which is fun because people are stupid and it amuses me). I am now officially an "expert" on turf, trees, grass, flowers, vegetables, insects and disease. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

A SHINY NEW BADGE!! I can wear it with pride.... Yay me! :-) More Cecily later today!

DeGrassi! Ha ha ha! I get it!!
Woo hoo!! And the guy who trained me is the guy who set up the entire system out here.

*prunes your roses, but not until Feb 14*

200 volunteer hours, 120 hours of study, many plants saved. Many lawns rescued from over-zealous waterers. I will wear my badge with pride and use it for good.

All hail and may the trumpets sound! Master Gardener....in da...ground?

Stopping now, before I commit a pun about photosynthesis and hurt myself.

Congratulations, it's a tough program. Some day I may be able to take sufficient time away from actually gardening to become a Master Gardener.

If you really want a pruning challenge, you could come take on those thirty-odd 100 year od apple trees in my orchard. Bring a cheerypicker.

Be sure to prune those apples into a bowl shape to increase your fruit production. Or just shovel prune them. (I'll let you work that one out in your head.)

You probably have enough real-life experience to reduce the number of classes to take... Do it!!

Laura, longs for pics of your garden and to smell the lovliness

You ROCK ROCK ROCK! (Heh, pun on stoney...) You kept this from some of us newbies--I had no idea that you were working on being a Master Vampire Gardener. I hope you have a lovely day, and I will do a little dance of congratulatory glee for you.

*dance of congratulatory glee, with extra wriggling in honor of your impressive achievements*

It's taken me many years to learn how to keep a plant alive. Fortunately, here in SoCal, the emphasis is on drought-resistance, so if I kill my existing plants by forgetting to water, I can claim I was experimenting with "waterwise" gardening techniques.

Dec. 9th, 2004 01:01 pm (UTC)
Ha ha ha! We are on water restrictions here as well, but you'd never know from the fools running their sprinklers during a RAINSTORM. Morons.

Just remember this: plants can take drought better than over watering. Rock=Stoney. Ha ha ha!

10Q!! Didn't you post a link to your garden's pics? If I remember correctly, you have a GORGEOUS garden.

This is the best thing I have ever done just for myself, and that is no lie. I LOVE being an MG. Do it!! We can hook up at conferences and laugh about porn secretly with all the old doddering grannies asking about the new pruning shears!

If it wasn't for my in-laws taking the kids while I was in school, it never would have happened.

Oh, but shade gardens are the prettiest! I swear it. My old house was nothing but shade, and by the time we moved, I had little pockets of gardens that were so beautiful... Full sun plants are so garish, and now that's all I have.

I'll send you a list of plants to check out, and they will all be low-maintenace, I promise!!

Sing this ditty to the tune of Master of the House from Les Misérables

Master of the Garden
Keeper of the hoe
She can plant anything and make it grow.

Watering the plants
Creating compost
Our friend Stoney can grow the most

Everybody's greatest gardener
Gives her plants just what they want
I know she does this
just so her neighbors won't taunt.

Yay you! I am in so much awe. I would have a garden if I had yard, but I know not the song of the green. I have heard of teh fabled Master Gardeners, back in the old days when I had cable and watched far too much HGTV(tm) and Victory Garden(c).

If you're feeling volunteery, can you advise me at all on caring for an asparagus fern? It's doing okay, I'd like to find way to make it fuller and more lush and bouncy.

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
