Un-sorrowful things for a break in your day

IDK about you, but when tragedy strikes the world, I have a tendency to shut down and get too caught up, so here are things as an emotional sorbet, should you find (like me) that you need one:

1. I may or may not have heard a few of the songs from The Book of Mormon: The Musical and can I just say that Trey Parker and Matt Stone are my all-time favorite people EVER. Brilliant. Perfect. Hilarious. Not mean, if you can believe it! I wouldn't have cared if it was or not, but it's even better knowing that they're teasing Mormons, but in a sweet "we love you!" way. No, really. [ETA] I have never wanted to see a show more badly in my life/. Uncle F*kka funny, REALLY.

2. The kittens are curled up in a fur pile in sunshine, grooming each other. <3 It'll turn to ATTACK! any second, but for now, aww!

3. Kassie wrote up Southland from last week and this week (the finale) and you need to go read them and discuss with me. HOLY CRAP. That is amazing tv. Not to mention amazing characters. If you love strong female characters: you should be watching. If you love Bromances: you should be watching. If you love strong, gay men that aren't defined by their sexuality: you should be watching. If you've ever been to LA: you should be watching.

4. This resurgence of Mormon culture in the media (let me believe it's true, please) has me wanting to dust off my manuscript and try again (after fixing problems. Feh.)

5. I also have another idea for a book that I think would be hilarious, and credit will go to nothingseasy4u if I get it published.

6. Monday I will be going away on vacation with the Mr. to celebrate our 10th anniversary (back in Jan, but this is when we could travel) and it cannot come soon enough, CALGON TAKE ME AWAY. <-- dated reference FTW! We'll be back Thursday night. (Napa/Alexander Valley - YAY WINE.)

7. There are FLOWERS in my garden! Blossoms! I was so ready for gardening chores (pruning, etc.) yesterday that I futzed with the MULCH just to be out in it. Yes, I'm a dork.

8. Today is my Bro in Law's birthday, he's wonderful, and he's celebrating my going to SXSW to watch a movie he and I were in, WUSS, and if you're in Austin, you need to go see it. Currently it's being hailed as one of the top 5 must see's, so that's pretty awesome. (I have more news to share next week re: movies, but have to wait for Official Word.)

9. IT IS FRIDAY. Hooray weekend! <3

Eeeeeee, Southland finale! I'm going to watch it *soon*!
I adore Cooper. The ads for the show in the first season made him look like some kind of redneck jackass, possibly 'bad' cop and i was so turned off. But then i watched and ooh, true love!

Pretty much true love for everyone, which is rare in a show with a cast this big.

We are back to 32 or colder weather so no blooms of any sort here! Well - there are a couple daffodils bravely opening next door but otherwise...still winter!

SouthLAnd is really such a superior show to most everything. I love that on the surface, without watching, it looks like a run of the mill cop drama when it's anything but. \o/

GAH TO YOUR COLD! Bleurgh, sorry y'all are still in the throes.

I am three episodes behind on Southland - house guests will not allow me the space to watch my TV! Note to everyone: hovering is not polite. Also, stop telling me you hate things I like (Southland, Jersey Shore, Top Chef). I don't care.

The mountain laurels are blooming! I love the smell of Grape Bubbleyum throughout the neighborhood.

It is gorgeous out. Time to sunblock up and walk to the library. That yoga DVD that I didn't watch won't check itself back in.

SXSW Music starts up on Tuesday this year. I need to do some band research, stat!

Have a fun vacation and bring home lots and lots of yummy wine.

HOUSE GUESTS! Back off her TV viewing! Har. Ew, I hate that, too, when someone knows you like something but they can't help but tell you how much it sucks.

I don't have blooms on my laurel yet, that's when I know Spring is here.

And thank you!

This resurgence of Mormon culture in the media (let me believe it's true, please) has me wanting to dust off my manuscript and try again (after fixing problems. Feh.)

A week or two ago, the Washington Post had a really long feature piece on the Romney & Huntsman clans, their political ambitions, and how Mitt was just more Morman than Huntsman...

Mar. 11th, 2011 07:42 pm (UTC)
Oh, Mitt is totally more of a Mormon than Hunstman. He's a descendant of one of the more colorful friends of Joesph Smith (not to mention he's rich. More money = more righteous)

Supposedly, they're cousins -- though one gets the sense that almost all major mormon politicians are related...

I know it's just a dress rehearsal, but you can get a pretty good idea of everything, and holy crap, have I been laughing my butt off. I'm going to move heaven and earth (hurr) to get to a show this year.

Yeah, I've heard considering it's just in previews the material and show in general is already really strong. Can't wait to see it. And that would be awesome if you could see it!

I would actually totally offer if I didn't actually live in Jersey with my parents. lol. *poor recentlyish-graduated liberal arts person*

If you come out though, I'll totally help you get discounted tickets, if possible. And where to get booze. *nods*

Ha! I have a friend that lives in Chelsea that offered, I just really need to find time when I can get away for a day or two and check my airline points.

I will be all over that booze/tickets offer.

Hee! This really needs to find its way to the internet.

And I have to say that I totally loved this week's 'Raising Hope' with its 'reverse gender polygamy cult' and its brother-husbands. LOL!

It's opening on the 24th of March, so I imagine something will leak. I am seriously going to do anything I can to get up there, this is my Woodstock!

Raising Hope is such a funny show. Who knew Martha Plimpton was so damn funny?

10th Anniversary FTW!
Congrats on the 10-year! My DH and I had our 10th anniversary in Feb, and have ALSO booked trip to Napa to celebrate! Alas, we cannot go until summertime, when the in-laws take our preschool munchkins off our hands.

All this to say, you are a vacation-planning genius. Napa = teh awesome! Please do a write-up when you get back, with lots of great winery and restaurant recommendations!

J says ifa you want to come to Noo Yawwk, we would TOTALLY meet up with you and kidnap you and take you home with us go SEE THE SHOW because you are the onliest person in the world we want to see it with.

He says he'd drive. WHATEVER THAT MEANS. I'm sure it's not a reference to kidnapping you.

PS. We are watching Big Love, omg. I mean, oh my heck!

PPS. I'm totally serious. Let's do it!

PPPS. Happy anniversary! Our 15th is next week! Send us the manuscript when you're ready!

I'm looking at when I can get out there, and will DEF. be in touch. Maybe I could make a weekend of it? (OMH, Susi, I've heard the soundtrack and it is a thing of GLORIOUSNESS.)

I just want to sit in a coffee shop afterwards with you both rehashing the fun. HOW MUCH OF A GOOD TIME? Immeasurable.

AWWWWW, 15?!? That's so lovely. <3 time infinity to J and S.

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
