When worlds collide!!!

Childhood nursery rhymes being scientifically proven to be true? YES.

Beans, beans, they're good for your heart
The more you eat, the more you fart
The more you fart, the better you feel
So let's have beans for every meal!

AHAHAHAHA. I love it. Every boy across the world just got a huge smile on their face. And every mother just grabbed a tissue to cover their nose.

In other "news," uh, DUH. Sumatra Mandheling, two sugars pls. If that's unavailable, Chai is next followed by Mexican Hot Chocolate. Mmm, cinnamon, coffee and chocolate all together? Yes, please!

This morning as I sent the oldest 2 off to catch the bus at 6:50, I heard the most piteously loud and lamentable howl from our roof, which completely stressed out my son. (get to school get to school GET TO SCHOOL!!) Our resident Siamese ding dong, Hope, had gotten herself stuck on our two story roof and couldn't figure out how to get down. I finally coaxed her to the manageable overhang at our back door, climbed a smallish ladder, and rrrrrrriiiiiippped! her off the roof and into my arms, where she continued to yowl until we got inside. She promptly made her "brrrr!" noise and rubbed along Sally derg, then sat her fat tush down to moinch on her food. *head desk* At least now I know why Sally was whimpering and whining when I got up - her Spidey senses were tingling.

I'm spending the day working on Halloween stuff - I bought some chicken wire yesterday and I'm going to fashion a human shape, wrap it in "spider webs" and affix it to the front of the house, where I have a massive "web" stretched across our entry way. Tomorrow I'll put the giant Dr. Suresh tarantulas up. If only our Satan Spider was still there, we could have natural horror. (Please note that I do NOT want Spider O'Doom back. Ever.)

YAY IT'S THE WEEKEND!! I want nummy hot drinks all day. And cuddling under warm blankets. And books! <3

::raises cup of lemon red zinger:: My Goldie did her Snoopy-as-vulture imitation over mah face this morning and my shriek nearly put us both on the roof. ::clutches heart:: Sheez.

hahahaha, I love it when cats do that. We have to be cautious of Darthanne (the serial killer) because what if she mistakes our soft neck meat for a bunny and kills us all??? ;)

The way I heard it growing up:

Beans, beans the magical fruit
The more the eat, the more you toot
The more you toot the happier you are
That makes beans my favorite by far

And yes, I know beans aren't a fruit, but I was a kid *g*
Oct. 24th, 2008 01:55 pm (UTC)
I've heard it both ways, because I am actually a disgusting and base pig. :D

But the good thing is: it's medically important to toot! Ahahahaha.

Wow. I think that warmth/emotion thing just explained why Texan tourists are so bitchy up here in the winter. *g*

NO YOU DI'INT. Am I gonna have to put on my "If God meant for Texans to ski, he would have made cowshit white" tee shirt?

:D (Those must be Oklahomans posing as their betters, not actual Texans. We're quite lovely.) HAHAHAHAHA.

Hope and Sally, back together again!! Gah, finding a kitty on the roof is scary!

I'm spending the day working on Halloween stuff - I bought some chicken wire yesterday and I'm going to fashion a human shape, wrap it in "spider webs" and affix it to the front of the house, where I have a massive "web" stretched across our entry way.
Is that to represent you possibly being eaten by the giant spider? What if you wake up the next day and the human shape is gone, actually eaten by that spider? And the spider has left a little note, saying, "Thanks for the appeteaser! I'll be back! >>..<<

It didn't even sound like her, I thought some random cat was trapped. GAH!

YES! I must face my fears, J! ACK ACK ACK, oh you cruel, cruel girl! *cries*
*share chai with you, anyway, because I lurve you*

So I think there are multiple versions of this rhyme. Here's how I heard it:

Beans, beans, a magical fruit,
The more you eat, the more you toot,
The more you toot the better you feel,
Now it's time for another meal.

I think the author took poetic license with beans being a fruit. Either that, or the author was extremely dense.

Oh geez, your poor kitty on the roof!

I just love your descriptions, they are so life-like *g* "rrrrrrriiiiiippped! her off the roof..." it's totally what it sounds like. And this is why you are such an amazing writer :)

Also the best at making me laugh: "her Spidey senses were tingling." And other humorous sentences. I love reading your entries, I don't think I've read one that didn't at least put a smile on my face.

OMG the Spider O'Doom!! That was so terrifying and awful and all other negative synonyms. Maybe these fake tarantulas will serve as stand-in scarecrows to all spiders and the like. *crosses fingers*

I'm so cold, I'm under my blankets, curled up with my laptop. Haven't gotten to the hot chocolate, but it's early yet. Books come later too, after reading the flist. Have a wonderful weekend m'dear!
Oct. 24th, 2008 02:50 pm (UTC)
I've heard that one, too, and it was the only one we were allowed to say in my house because "fart" was a dirty word. o_0

Aww, you're so sweet! On one of the many, many days that I call myself a hack wannabe writer, I'll read your description and put the knife down. :D

Brrrrr, I have just now put on warm non-jimjams, because I can't face the day in clothes I've slept in. It's possible that I should go ahead and turn on the heater.... You have a lovely weekend, yourself!
Oct. 24th, 2008 03:20 pm (UTC)
It is the right kind of day for Mexican Hot Chocolate, isn't it? Or Mulled Apple Cider. Mmmm.

Yay, Halloween stuff is fun! Have fun with the decorating. Oh! How goes the angel costume construction? I'm been curious if you'd started it/if you were still planning on wearing it.

And books!
What have you been reading lately? /nosy
Oct. 24th, 2008 03:34 pm (UTC)
I'm about to pull out a pot to make some chai - the hot chocolate is for when the kiddos get home. (We have marshmallows, too, YUM.)

I'm still working on it - today I'm finishing up the wing structure to I can put the actual wings on. The dress is made, all that's left once the wings are finished is painting it all, making the mask, and working out a makeup plan, because I'm not going the pantyhose route like the inspiration costume. Too much extra work, imo.

BOOKS! I'm finishing up "Look Me In The Eye" and have been reading lots and lots of newspapers. :D Later I'll hit "Slaughter House Five" and some Discworld.

Growing up, we had a Siamese who wouldn't stay off the roof. So we went with it...her name was Shingles. LOL
Oct. 24th, 2008 04:45 pm (UTC)
HAHAHAHAHA, great name! I love odd names for animals. Why have normal names?

The thing with our Siamese is that she is TERRIFIED of the outside world, save our back patio and a line of shrubs in the fenced-yard. I'm just bamboozled as to why she was up there in the first place.
Oct. 24th, 2008 04:15 pm (UTC)
I hate you so much right now. Despite my... severe dislike for spiders, I went and looked at your Satan Spider links. And read the threads. And saw the Clock Spider. *shudders convulsively*

On the other hand, I also found out that what I grew up calling Daddy Longlegs are Harvestmen, which is kinda cool to know.

Your planned display, with the spider webs? Would scare the BEJESUS out of me.

I'm now being all twitchily "Wait, before I move back to Utah, there aren't any FREAKY MONSTER-BUGS there, right?!?!" and trying to keep reminding myself that I already lived there and didn't find any so I'm probably ok. *twitch, twitch*

I think I had something else to day, but it got eateded by arachniphobia.
Oct. 24th, 2008 04:46 pm (UTC)
YOU KNOW WHAT? I cannot be held accountable for your need to torture your own self. (Hahaha, I have to look at things that scare me, too, but I will never NEVER look at Clocky again. I can't even type that without being freaked out again. GAH!)

No massive bugs in Utah, yay! One of the reasons I liked living there, truthfully.

My goal is to turn our little cul-de-sac into the party place to be like in our old neighborhood. Good lord, they threw AMAZING Halloween bashes. Real coffins, real pipe organs, professional makeup artists, movies on the sides of houses and haunted mazes... *dreams*

Hahahahaha - CATS!! Sally flinched at the tarantula when I pulled it out. I guess they look pretty good! :D

I have to agree with the hot drink idea - it makes me happy to have that warmth radiating through my hands. It makes everything so snuggly.
Oct. 24th, 2008 04:17 pm (UTC)
Yay, the weekend! It's finally chilly enough for sweaters and soups and big pots of beans! My husband will be delighted that farting is good for you...maybe I just won't share that information.

Halloween crafting sounds like a delightful way to spend the day. I'd love to see the finished results.
Oct. 24th, 2008 04:53 pm (UTC)
Isn't the weather wonderful? I'm so happy to have warm clothes to bundle in.

I'm taking loads of pictures. My sister is coming up tomorrow to help me with painting and construction of the wings. I'm SO EXCITED.
Oct. 24th, 2008 04:41 pm (UTC)
My grandfather sang it yet a third way:

Beans, beans, the musical fruit
The more you eat the more you toot
The more you toot the better you feel
So eat beans, eat beans, with every meal!
Oct. 24th, 2008 04:54 pm (UTC)
And the thing is: Grandpa was right! :D Isn't that just hilarious? I've been snerking all morning after reading that, because I'm apparently a 12 year old. :D

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
