I think I can officially call myself

a real writer. I just got my first rejection letter (email.) Yay? (It was the guy that was friends with my agent. ETA: my FILM agent. I do not have a book agent, that's who sent the rejection.) It said "we're going to pass but we wish you luck." Much nicer than "LOLOLOL, RU kidding me? USUCK." which is what I was almost expecting. :)

Stiff upper lip'd, sallying forth, and making sure I actually corrected the type-o I just found in my submission package. *head desk* And soothing my wounded spirit with some homemade pumpernickel bread.

He's going to kicking himself when your book not only sells but makes scads of money.

Congratuations! You've already come farther than a ton of writers who never get past the first chapter. That's a lot to be proud of. xoxoxo

Anyway, who wants to be one of those writers who slams out one book and immediately gets their dream agent, who sells it at auction to a major publisher for six figures and then it gets made into a movie starring Robert Downey Jr. who gets a best actor Oscar for the role???

Don't give up. I don't know a single soul who hasn't got that first rejection letter. And a second. And a third. And so on. You've got an agent. That's half the battle.

No, no, I don't have a BOOK agent. My FILM agent knew one and gave him a head's up, that's what happened.

Meh. What does he know about publishing if he rejected you? He can be sorry for all eternity.

What cappsize said. Plus you just know that the guy smelled like doody. Do you want to be involved with someone like that? No!

You know what I'm finding goes well with rejection? A Bordeaux and some port-aged cheddar. Who knew? ;)

Well fuckity fuck. But! At least you are a real writer. Now go get smashed in a dark room, like all real writers do. ♥

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
