A little of this, a little of that.

First off, how about some laughing? "Top Star Wars Phrases improved by changing one word to pants." Example: "You came in those pants? You're braver than I thought." Ahaha. Double entendre for the win.

Secondly, Hatch chiles are in season and man, I am practically eating them raw out of hand, they're so tasty. They're not as smoky as a Poblano, but they're not as spicy as a jalapeno. I roasted a few and made the following:

Chipotle-Hatch Chicken Salad
3/4 of the chicken from a rotisserie chicken (I reserved some for curry chicken salad for me today. *g*) shredded up
1/2 of a roasted red bell pepper
1/2 of a small onion, diced
1 huge hatch pepper, diced
2 chipotles (in adobo sauce) diced and an additional spoonful of the sauce mixed in
1 tsp. of cumin
garlic salt to taste (could use minced fresh garlic, but I was tired of cutting things up at this point)
enough Mayo to hold it together. I go easy on it, because I'm that way. I maybe used... three heaping spoonfulls?

Mix it up, serve with tortillas, eat it on a piece of bread, eat it off a plate, just eat it. OM NOM NOM. (Ours was still warm from the chicken and the peppers having been roasted, but it would taste great cold, too.)

Thirdesque, I have got to get out in my garden and clean it up because it's out of control, but I am too tired and it is too hot to go out there. Anyone that wants to help me divide a million plants can take what they want home... I'll make us mojitos? (So sleepy when it gets hot.)

Fourthish, the kids go back to school on Monday (WHEEEEE!) and we bought all of our supplies yesterday (OUCH says my wallet) and have things sorted and I'm going to celebrate them going back by jumping out of a plane again, HURRAH! This is Lesson 1 of the AFF training, so I'll be learning altitude awareness, practice main parachute deployment, learn and practice canopy flight skills. HOORAY!

Fifthdom, these pieces of art carved from books are SO NEAT. (And by the way: I don't want to hear your horror over old books being cut up for art. We've been there, done that, mm'kay?)

I love, love, love when the Hatches show up! I fire up the grill and roast pounds and pounds, peel and seed and stuff gallon Zip-locs in the freezer to enjoy all year long. Green chili stew all winter long. Cheddar chili cheese bread, please.

Yay, the kids are going back to school! Boo, that means UT is back in session. I love how quiet it gets around here when the students are gone.

Put Captain Solo in the cargo pants for the win!

I had a cream of poblano soup (with just a hint of queso fresco on top, crumbled) in Austin last December (Congress and 3rd? Started with an M? I suck at remembering things some days) that was out of this world. I bet you could make a soup similar with Hatch chiles.... I'll have to go back and buy enough to puree and freeze. YUM YUM YUM.

Oooh, Austin when school is in session and you're not in school. Yeah, the streets get even crazier.

HEE, I've been laughing at that site all morning! "Away put your pants, I mean you no harm!" LOL.

Manuel's? It's got a sort of Deco vibe and is a bit upscale. We go for Margaritas before a show at The Paramount. This post is making me hungry and thirsty!

YES!! And they had fabulous margaritas, too. The concierge at the hotel I was staying at recommended that place to me, instead of the popular place that had crappy food. (According to him.) The crappy place was a few blocks west on 2nd, had a patio with string lights, etc.

This looks close to their recipe, but I'd add a little cilantro, I think. Also, no Monterrey Jack! Queso Fresco! And some shredded chicken would be good to mix in, too, to round out the meal. MMMMMMM.

Jack is way too heavy. Queso fresco would be perfect. Smoked chicken! Aah, I need to fire up the smoker this weekend while I'm grilling all those chiles!

book art is cool

Love the carved books. Will forward to my daughter who has just finished her Art degree. Thanks.

It is TOTALLY cool! (Last time I linked to anything there was a mini wank that built up over how horrified people were because all books are precious. To which I say, WHAT ABOUT TWILIGHT? LOL.)

I would like to see all Twilight books made into carvings. Trash to Treasure!

That book art is boss!

Can I hire you to come to my house and cook for me?

Hey, I'm coming to Dallas again the second week of September! Can you do dinner on Thursday nights, or do you have kid duty?

Pants! Hahahahaha!

Maybe we can trade gardening chores. I need to weed. And weed some more. (And I need to answer your delightful e-mail to me but I haven't been home. And I'm going to bed in about two minutes.)

May_Lyn and I are within driving distance of Hatch, and you are so right on how delicious hatch chilis are. One suggestion while they're in season is roasting them, then cutting them up and freezing them using ice cube trays into cubes that can be stored in the freezer all year. That way...

Scrambling eggs? throw two cubes in for hatch chili scrambled eggs.
Add a cube to chicken noodle soup to get the nose going and extra Vitamin C when you have a cold.
Add a cube or two to... well... just about ANYTHING savory for deliciousness!

"You are unwise to lower your pants."

Maybe so, but I'm a risk taker, yo!

I love this list. I can't stop laughing and am compelled to speak 'pants' speak all day.

BTW, don't hate me, but I nominated your blog (pants)for a Kreativ Award hehe. Check it out if you want... http://www.melissafrancis.net

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
