Fic: Where There's Smoke Klaine AU [8/12+]

Author: Stoney
Title: Where There's Smoke [8/12+]
Rating: This part R for intense action and nudity [zomg nekkid butts]
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine, Wes and David friendship, mentions of former Finn/Rachel
Word Count: 10,500/100,000
Warnings: Kurt finally hangs out at the fire station. Guess what happens? (Be prepared, my firefighter daughters, for intense situations)
Summary: Fireman AU, set 7 years after graduation. Kurt is Kurt, except that he never met Blaine Anderson. Blaine grew up in Brooklyn with his mother and firefighter father. Rachel and Kurt have graduated NYADA, Kurt gained a Masters from Tisch, and now they're in their first post-college apartment together ready to tackle their dreams. Unfortunately, Rachel never learned how to properly cook and almost sets their new house on fire. Enter Dreamy McFirepants.
A/N: This wouldn't exist without the most amazing editor a person could ask for, flaming_muse. Any remaining errors fall squarely on her my shoulders. :D Also, I am ultimately a romantic, I don't like character death, I love writing happy endings, and Kurt and Rachel live in my dream place in Carroll Gardens (it's modeled after a real piece of real estate there.) I tried to be as accurate as a visitor to NYC can get, but did take a few liberties with neighborhood bodegas.

(Speaking of flaming_muse - if you think you like how I write Kurt and Blaine, you really should read everything she's written. I learned at her knee.)

Kurt spent the next morning floating from task to task, unable to keep his mind focused.Collapse )

amazing chapter, and now I can't wait for the next one :)

and Burt, a man of wisdom, all the awards. Can he just come visit Kurt and meet Blaine? I have a feeling that Burt/Blaine interaction would be adorable ;)

gahhh! SO GOOD! Can I just say that in just the week of you posting, this fic has totally become part of my routine? no seriously, I get up and read this whilst eating breakfast. On top of having an absolutely shitty weekend (I lost my wallet and spent the whole time canceling cards and being put on hold), this fic was totally a bright spot during my weekend.

That being said....ZOMG NEKKID WET!BLAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ILY!! *FLAIL*

(OMG THAT IS THE WORST I have had that happen and it's a nightmare. ALL OF THE CONDOLENCES.)

I am SUPER happy to know that this has been a bright spot, that is AWESOME. Thank you!! (Um, don't eat anything that splatters tomorrow. *shifty*)

I am SO GLAD it read as intense and not boring (omg, that would be the worst!) I just LOVE Burt Hummel. I was saying in another comment that I wrote recaps for Glee, and I have a bingo drinking game. One of the squares? Burt Hummel: Greatest Father. BECAUSE HE IS. <3

(Hahahaa - Ed Hardy - Kurt has trained Burt well!) Thank you so much for this comment!!

LOVE! I actually found myself holding my breath, all tense, waiting with my heart in my throat when they rolled out to the fire. Good lord, girl...you know how to get my blood going. The shower scene might have had a little something to do with the boiling blood as well... ;o) Sorry I missed reviewing the last couple of chapters. I'll try to do better from now on. :o) As always, I cannot wait for the next chapter!

That is the best thing EVER to hear!! On both parts! Ha. (Oh, it's okay if you don't review every chapter, I love knowing that people are sticking with it, whenever that is.) THANK YOU!

Oh my heart is just bursting at happiness at this chapter. So much love for Burt Hummel, seriously!

I think the progression here is real and terrific.

*sigh* so in my happy place with this story.

This story is amazing. I love everything about it-- the characterization, the plot-- everything.

Dec. 19th, 2011 08:47 pm (UTC)
Why, thank you! I appreciate your saying so!

I would like to repeat yesterdays comment, re: babies and hugging, except in emotionally distraught capslock.

(I just remembered that my grandfather used to be a firefighter, but retired as long as I can remember. Not that it apparently made much of an impression on his kids - my mum fondly rememberes the tree catching fire at least once every Christmas.)
Dec. 19th, 2011 08:48 pm (UTC)
NOTED. :D Also? <3

OMG at the tree catching on fire every year! HAHAHA. I mean, CRAP, THAT IS SCARY. (ha)

“I was a line cook in high school, moved up to being a sous chef. This job is way less stressful.” - Somehow I think that would be ;)

Ahh, you had good ol' Papa Hummel at the start!! I loved the chat he and Kurt had. It was clearly what Kurt needed. I'm so glad he listened to his dad and didn't run away from Blaine when he needed it.

This chapter was amazing. I was so scared for Blaine just like Kurt was and was so relieved when he was fine.

The ending is absolutely perfect. I just have SO many feelings for this story. You're amazing and so talented.

Love, love, love.

Ahahaha, I am SO GLAD someone pulled that line - I've worked in restaurants and man, it's true. It's vicious in the kitchen! :D

I'm so pleased that the tension came through for the reader! That's super gratifying, thank you.

Oh my god, during the entire fire scene I was clutching desperately at my desk so hard that my knuckles were sore.

The whole bathing scene was so sensual and sweet and amazing and asfdlkhadkflah I love this story with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

Can't wait for tomorrow ahhhhh!

I've mentioned before that I usually read this on my lunch at work. Well, when I looked at the time, it was time for me to clock in. But since I was right at the fire, my brain was saying "NOOOO I NEED TO KNOW THAT BLAINE IS SAFE". I think I came back six minutes late.

Kurt, you are so head over heels in love. Admit it!

OMG, I am a mom, I can write you a note to excuse your tardiness?

To Whom It May Concern:

Please excuse [unsung_song] for their tardiness today, there was a fictional family emergency followed by nekkid sexytimes that required their attention.

Sincerely, Me

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
