Title: Where There's Smoke [The EPILOGUE]
Rating: Fer Errbody (overall rated M: be old enough to not put me in jail, pls.)
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine, Wes and David friendship, mentions of former Finn/Rachel
Word Count: 2400/100,000
Warnings: Kurt finally hangs out at the fire station. Guess what happens? (Be prepared, my firefighter daughters, for intense situations)
Summary: Fireman AU. A few months down the road.
A/N: This wouldn't exist (no, truly, I almost deleted it) without the most amazing editor a person could ask for, flaming_muse. Any remaining errors fall squarely on her my shoulders. I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY YOUR RESPONSE. Unbelievably gratifying, thank you so much, each and every one of you.

It wasn’t usually this cold in New York City by November, but the weather apparently didn’t care to stick with the program and was running on a mid-January schedule.Collapse )

Perfect ending to a perfect story. The Firefighter's prayer too is perfect now, thanks to Kurt's modification. Hard to believe that I won't have another chapter to dig into tomorrow. All good things come to an end. Here's to you for an absolutely enthralling story and your unparalleled writing ability.

And the pleasure is all mine.

Oh, yay! I'm glad the re-worked prayer was well received! :D

And thank you SO, SO much, what a wonderful comment for me to find in my inbox! <3

That was perfection! I also loved the changes Kurt made to the firemen's prayer! Looking forward to your oneshots!

Snagging the PDF to read it later. I have been waiting until it was finished to do that. :) Will get back to you once I finished reading. Which might take a while since the Holidays are always a busy time of year. *happy dance* But it't waiting to be read. Yay! :)

And *pom pom dance* for you, finishing a fic is always the moment to celebrate with pom poms. :D

...now what am I going to look forward to every morning?

So sad it's over, but I so downloaded the epub file for the eReader I don't know I'm getting for Christmas.

Just god, I was on the edge of my seat waiting for someone to get hurt and guh.

I can't even really think coherently because I'm still flailing over Kurt's version of the Firefighters prayer.

The sun? IDK, but I had to stop it eventually! Hee. Oh, I hope you get an ereader, they are a DELIGHT. As are you. And I just have to laugh and shake my head at y'all thinking I would pull the rug out from under you, NO!! I would never do that to you lovely people. :D

Thank you so much, really. <3

So, I loved this ending, which was no surprise since I've loved every chapter of this.

And thank you for the visual of Kurt in that coat; it is a very nice one.

I am SO putting this on my Kindle for the many re-readings it will undoubtedly get.
Dec. 24th, 2011 05:28 pm (UTC)
Aww, thank you! (And boy, there is nothing ever wrong with Kurt in a natty coat, am I right? He shouldn't be as handsome as he is, as it's just unfair to regular mortals.)

I'm so glad the files are helpful, too! THANK YOU. Just... thanks, I've enjoyed posting this so much.

This was the best thing to wake up to. <3 The PDF has earned a permanent spot on my hard drive and in my phone, I can't wait to reread everything in one go. It has been the greatest pleasure to immerse myself in this glorious 'verse of yours - so considerately and carefully written, with so much respect for the profession, and with such love for every single character. Your Kurt POV is just utterly fantastic, and watching him fall in love with Blaine and slowly and surely open himself up to the joy and wonder that was waiting for him on the other side was truly a gift. I have loved watching these boys - these men - find each other and let each other in. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.

I'm so happy to hear that the files are welcomed! YAY. You have been SUCH A DELIGHT, and I've loved every happy comment you've left me. I think I've enjoyed this more than y'all, honestly. :D

From the bottom of MY heart, THANK YOU. So, so much. <3 <3

Amazing. Beautiful. You have their characters perfectly done. I think I said this before, but your writing of Burt Hummel is incredibly done.

Oh yeah - and thank you SO MUCH FOR THE EPUB!!!1!!

Thank you so much for that! Getting the characterization down is the most important goal I have with writing, so I truly appreciate that. Glad the files are welcomed, YAY!!

Thank you. <3

I just can't express how much I've loved this fic. My dad was a firefighter and although it sometimes feels weird to be reading these descriptions of the uniforms and how sexy they look, because hello-my dad wore that, I still loved it. I was so annoyed with Kurt for taking so long about Blaine's job, but I'm biased in that area. And overall they were just so lovely to read and I just loved it. :D
Dec. 24th, 2011 05:35 pm (UTC)
Hahaha, well, I can definitely understand that the hot uniform portions (not TOO many, but yeah, they're there) didn't scare you away! :D (And in my eyes, your dad is a hero.)

So happy you enjoyed the story, thank you!!
Dec. 24th, 2011 03:34 am (UTC)
Even though I spent most of yesterday reading this, I'm so sorry that there won't be any more!! I love this fic, I enjoyed every second of reading it, and it's definitely going in my memories ♥
Dec. 24th, 2011 05:35 pm (UTC)
Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed this, and I'm so happy you took the time to read and comment, THANK YOU!

This is the most perfect fic I think I've ever read and thank you so much for writing it.

/now sobbing because of reasons :'D

Dec. 24th, 2011 05:36 pm (UTC)
WOW! I don't know about that, but I WILL TAKE THAT COMPLIMENT, yes I will. :D

Thank you so much! (and passes you tissues and hugs)

man, i don't even know how to properly make a comment.
i was waiting til the end of the story so i could just gush about it all but i honestly have no words.

this fic. This is one of the best things i have ever read. Not just a fanfic, but anything in general. I woke up every day this week and the first thing i'd do was go on your page to see if you updated. I've had dreams of this fic. There was a 7-alarm fire a few blocks away from me and all i could think of was this fic and how kurt would handle it if blaine had been in it and just fjkhgsdjklgds

this was truly fantastic. and so beautifully written, omg. I'm actually so upset it's over because i didn't want it to be. 100k is seriously just not enough. (any hope at all for a sequel or timestamps?)

Anyways yeah, thank you for writing this story. It was simply one of the best things to ever happen, i'm serious.
Dec. 24th, 2011 05:48 pm (UTC)
I just..

THANK YOU. I'm so happy to know that you enjoyed this, and kind of bowled over that you had dreams about it! (Ha, when I started writing this, I snickered every time I ran into the firemen at the market up the road.)

There will be some one-shots one day, but for now, I'm pretty satisfied with it - thank YOU so much for reading it and taking the time to comment!!
Dec. 24th, 2011 03:55 am (UTC)
I don't think you understand how hard it is to review this story. Because your words are so beautiful that to put my emotions into coherant sentences is just near impossible and it's actually daytime here for once so I don't have any excuses for my addled thoughts so I SHALL TRY AND POWER THROUGH.

I love every inch of this story, quite literally.

I love how Kurt calls him "Captain".

I love how each of the fireman have their own little personalities and mannerisms.

I love the realism of the whole thing.

I love that Kurt's big break wasn't something crazily momentous like getting a lead on some giant Broadway musical on his first audition.

I love that Rachel and Finn broke up (I ain't even mad).

I love how you incorporated that into the story.

I love Finn's fascination with the fireman's pole.

I love Burt TRYING to be nice, but still protective.

I love how nervous Blaine was.

I love that you gave reason for that.

I love Blaine's relationship with his parents; as sad as it was, it was really REAL to me and made the whole fear about Blaine's life being lost to the job more... backing up (?) I should say.

I love that I'm going to re-read this story and find a thousand other things I wish I'd said and probably leave you hysterical comments in about six months or so because I found it again.

I love the adorable title.

I love that when I went into the scrap book you made I freaked out because you'd described everything so flawlessly that these were the images in my mind that I already had.

I just love this story.

love, your craziest reviewer

Merry Christmas Eve!!!!!! xxxx

I'm going to take this comment into the closet and kiss it, okay? I promise to be respectful. :D

I am SO HAPPY that all of the "extras" were their own people for you. SO HAPPY. And I love that you love all the things you love!! Hee. Really, thank you so, so much. It's been an absolute pleasure posting this and sharing the Klaine love with so many people.

THANK YOU. And happy holidays to you!! <3

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
