Title: Where There's Smoke [The EPILOGUE]
Rating: Fer Errbody (overall rated M: be old enough to not put me in jail, pls.)
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine, Wes and David friendship, mentions of former Finn/Rachel
Word Count: 2400/100,000
Warnings: Kurt finally hangs out at the fire station. Guess what happens? (Be prepared, my firefighter daughters, for intense situations)
Summary: Fireman AU. A few months down the road.
A/N: This wouldn't exist (no, truly, I almost deleted it) without the most amazing editor a person could ask for, flaming_muse. Any remaining errors fall squarely on her my shoulders. I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY YOUR RESPONSE. Unbelievably gratifying, thank you so much, each and every one of you.

It wasn’t usually this cold in New York City by November, but the weather apparently didn’t care to stick with the program and was running on a mid-January schedule.Collapse )

I think I hate you for making me feel so many things and deal with all these emotions! But this story is just wonderful and you did a great job of keeping all the characters true to themselves, but giving it your own unique spin. As a characterisation nazi, I can think of nothing better to tell you.

I look forward to your next piece!

WHY HATE?! *all my creys* Lol. I'm so happy you enjoyed this, that the characters stayed true (I am the same, I am not a fan of random strangers inhabiting my beloved characters in other stories) so that is an extra bonus to me, THANK YOU.

Hugs hugs hugs to you! Happy Holidays! <3

Well now I'm slightly bummed.
I honestly don't know what to do with myself now. For the past week or so the first thing I did as soon as I woke up was pull out my laptop, still sitting in bed, and bring up the new chapter. My morning is going to be missing something wonderful tomorrow.

Bravo. This story is a perfect AU. You encapsulated the character's essences and wrote them brilliantly and in precise detail. I loved it. I really hope we hear more about them. Maybe a few one off shots? I may be begging now.

Once again, lovely.

Re: Well now I'm slightly bummed.
Aww, that's so nice to know how much you've enjoyed this! I've had an absolute blast sharing this with everyone, and now I'm going to have boring mornings where I have to wrote non-Klaine things. BOO.

I do plan on writing a few one-shots, but not until January at the earliest. Until then, THANK YOU for reading and commenting. happy Holidays!

You know I thought for sure i'd be kicking and screaming for more, but this is is such a perfect end to a perfect story, I actually feel content and so very happy with the way you ended it. Also yet again sobbing into my coffee, but that's a normal reaction by now.

Aww, they're living togeher and the gift <3 Just perfect. There is no other word for it.

I can't believe you managed to combine pretty much everything I love into one - Hummelberry living in New York, ridiculously in love and domestic Klaine complete with very good build up and witty and adorable banter, Kurt finally making it big, the Hudmels visiting and being their flawless selves, meeting the parents, just everything I have ever wanted in a story.

You're a fantastic writer and I want to thank you so much for writing and sharing this precious gem with us and also updating every day like you said you would. It has truly been the highlight of my day. I am completely blown away and there are just not enough words(or gifs) to decribe how much I love it. It's definitely become one of my favourite fics ever and you can bet i'll be rereading it whenever I feel down, cause it's like instant happiness. So again, thank you.

Oh and Happy Holidays, have a great time! This was the best Christmas present :D
Dec. 25th, 2011 03:37 am (UTC)
OH THANK YOU SO DAMN MUCH FOR THAT. I know it's a compliment when people want more, but man, this was A LOT. I'm so glad that this felt like a complete story to you, seriously: THANK YOU for that.

haha, it sounds like we love the same things in our Klaine, so that just makes it easier for me! Truly, though, every time you've commented, it's made me so happy, so that's thanks enough for me. All the love and hugs for you! Happy Holidays.

This is just so good - I had been avoiding it because of the WIPness, but then gave in and just blew through it all. Thank you so much for both the story and the efile, which I've snagged to reread later. :-)
Dec. 25th, 2011 03:38 am (UTC)
Well, technically not a WiP because it's been written since Dec. 12, but the chapter a day thing isn't everyone's thing, I know. But this was a lot to throw at people in one fell swoop, so...

I'm so happy to know you enjoyed this and that the file is a help, too! (I love reading on my Kindle, I just assume everyone else does, too.)

Thank you so much, and have a great holiday!

I can't describe how perfect this story is. Reading the updates have been my favorite part of the day for these past two weeks or so. All I can really say is thank you.

Aww!! Thank YOU for that! It's been my pleasure sharing this with everyone. Have a WONDERFUL holiday. <3

I'm only half way through and loving it so far... but THANK YOU for the PDF version of the story. What a brilliant idea ♥

I hope you end up enjoying the whole thing! So glad to know you got a file, I love my ereader, too! <3

Oh, that was a beautiful finish!

I'm a sucker for happy ever afters, so seeing them so enraptured with each other and with their lives fully intertwined is making me all mushy!

Thank you so much for sharing this story with us! I am definitely taking advantage of that mobi file!

For the last thirteen days, when I have been forced to do extra hours for the Christmas period, I have wearily gotten onto the bus and pulled out my phone. I've gotten onto the internet, gone to everyone's favourite Livejournal page and located your story where I have settled down for the hour long ride.

Your story has been moving, and a wonder to read. I've found myself hooked but not wanting to comment until the very last day (Christmas Eve, and what a wonderful present you gave, you can come round every year) and I can only simply say that this is now one of my favourite stories. It's emotional without being heart-destroying, funny without being overtly so and taking away from the drama, and a love story that isn't insipid. All in all, a Hat Trick for you!

I will be looking out for more stories from you, as I know now that I can only get the best in return.
Dec. 25th, 2011 03:43 am (UTC)
*sniffs* You are a DELIGHT. Thank you so, so much for sharing that with me, and I am beyond thrilled that this story gave you a few minutes of happy. :) "A love story that isn't insipid." OH MY GOD, THANK YOU. I mean, I know I veer close, but I really didn't want it to be like a Lifetime movie, so seriously: THANK YOU.

Happy holidays, and all the hearts for you!

Dec. 25th, 2011 03:43 am (UTC)
Thank you!! I appreciate that so much, and I hope you enjoy it the next time you decide to pull it out, as well. :D

Have a wonderful holiday!

OH MY HEART. What a perfect ending. So sweet. I'm so glad for Kurt's version of the prayer. What a wonderful way to end the loop. Thank you for the amazing moments I spent reading this fiction. It was all kind of incredible. Have a merry christmas!
Dec. 25th, 2011 03:44 am (UTC)
HOORAY!! I'm so glad the ending had a good payoff for you, thank you!! I've appreciated every single comment you took the time to leave me, thank you for that. Happy holidays to you, too! <3
Dec. 24th, 2011 12:29 pm (UTC)
Love your story very very much! I had secretly put it in a pdf-file for myself already to read on my ebook (my hand is still cramped up with it, the control-c and v keys are slightly blurred now as well, but I'm very happy you have put your own pdf/epub version on this site as well. Definitely reading this massive thing again!!)(marvelous invention btw, I'm so in love with it, too bad I can or rather have to throw my paperbacks away now. it feels like sacrilege!)

anyway, thank you so much for NOT deleting this thing. It made my week.
ps and a little extra thank you for that scrapbook-thingy you made. I like my pics with my words. Fireman-Blaine is extremely hot! ;D
Dec. 25th, 2011 03:45 am (UTC)
Oh, that is a LOT of c&p-ing!! Hopefully this saved you a little extra trouble. :)

Ha, I'm glad I didn't delete it, either! That FM, she's pretty great at pushing me. <3 I'm also glad the scrapbook was a hit, YAY! Happy holidays (and thank you, again.)

that last comment came from me. I didn't mean to post that anonymous, stupid internet is stupid
Dec. 25th, 2011 03:46 am (UTC)
No worries - I've had commenters that don't have LJs, so I didn't think anything of it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS (and double reply from me! Lol)
Dec. 24th, 2011 01:12 pm (UTC)

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
