Title: Where There's Smoke [The EPILOGUE]
Rating: Fer Errbody (overall rated M: be old enough to not put me in jail, pls.)
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine, Wes and David friendship, mentions of former Finn/Rachel
Word Count: 2400/100,000
Warnings: Kurt finally hangs out at the fire station. Guess what happens? (Be prepared, my firefighter daughters, for intense situations)
Summary: Fireman AU. A few months down the road.
A/N: This wouldn't exist (no, truly, I almost deleted it) without the most amazing editor a person could ask for, flaming_muse. Any remaining errors fall squarely on her my shoulders. I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY YOUR RESPONSE. Unbelievably gratifying, thank you so much, each and every one of you.

It wasn’t usually this cold in New York City by November, but the weather apparently didn’t care to stick with the program and was running on a mid-January schedule.Collapse )

This was so beautiful and you just did such a good job with everything. It was all very realistic sounding to me (I'm not a pro or anything and don't know anyone who is a firefighter but it sounds pretty damn legit) Anyway. One of the things I love most about this story was how you kept the element of danger and the worry of being in love with someone with a risky job but you were able to keep the focus on the love that Kurt and Blaine have for each other. Their relationship wasn't overshadowed by the plot and the whole thing was just ridiculously fantastic. I love love love this story and can't wait to see anything else you write :D This story was really just phenomenal and very touching. Thanks for such an awesome AU.

Hahaha, I am so glad it sounded legit! Even if you're not a pro, pssh, that's pretty boss regardless. :D

Oh, thank you for telling me that, I did want it to feel real, and that background sense of dread is just always going to be there, but the challenge is to move past it and looooooooove. SO happy you enjoyed this, and thank you so much for reading and telling me about it! <3 <3

I've told you several times how much I love this story, so today, let me start by telling you how much I love your writing. You are one of those people who just know how to put words in exactly the right order to make them beautiful. What you have created here is wonderful - the best stories are those you can just slip into as a reader and feel like you're living inside of them. This is one of those stories. Everything about this, from the details of their lives to the way you write the characters to the dialogue, flows so naturally.

I really love this story. I'm sad it's over, but I will definitely re-read. LOVE IT. Thank you for writing this. You are wonderful and so is this story.
Dec. 25th, 2011 04:11 am (UTC)
Oh my gosh, thank you for that! That's the ultimate goal for any writer, so I am tickled and PLEASED that you feel I got there with this story, thank you. I truly appreciate your saying so.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, and you seem pretty wonderful to me, too. <3

“No, I didn’t bring you a striptease.” He slipped his coat off and draped it over the end of Blaine’s desk. “That’s for tomorrow,” he purred, waggling his eyebrows suggestively before laughing.

*sniggers* I love the playful happiness of this piece. It's delightful.

Aw, finishing this story was a lovely way to spend a quiet Christmas morning. It's been a delightful way to mark off the days this December.

What can I say, that was an absolutely perfect ending. There aren't enough words to explain how wonderful this story is.
Loved Kurt's present for Blaine, and that they talk when Kurt goes to bed. Just awwwww! Love them!

Thank you so much for writing this, it has been a pleasure reading everyday. I think this is definitely at the top of my favourite Klaine stories.

Went and downloaded the pdf for future readings. I was going to go ahead and make a word file of it for myself but you went ahead and did the hard work for me, so again thank you for that. Look forward to any future stories!

YAY! I'm so happy you enjoyed the ending and Kurt's present.

It's been my pleasure sharing the story with everyone, seeing where people think it would go, etc. It's been so much fun for me. Thank you so much for reading along and chatting me up as you went, and I hope you get good use out of the files! I love reading on my kindle, so I guessed everyone else did as well. :)

Happy holidays!

I summarize all my feelings with: You need to publish a novel.

You are incredible.
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:38 pm (UTC)
Well, that's my goal for 2012, hopefully so! :) (THank you, Nony!)

I love this, love them being such a couple together - playful, fun and serious as ever. Lovely closing to a brilliant fic.

Thank you for writing this amazing verse. I am going to steal the PDF and re-read the entire thing soon. ♥

(Dare I hope we'll get snippets in the future? :P)
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:39 pm (UTC)
Thank you so, so much, and you don't need to steal, you may simply have! :D

I'd like to post a few one-shots based on this, but it'll take a little time. Thank you so much for being interested in more! <3

ZOMG! I lurve you! You are going to make a 2 hour drive with 3 11 year olds bearable. Can I beg and plead for a firefighter wedding?? I can't get enough of this story...I just wants more!!
Thank you, imaginary neighbor for sharing this with me (and my iPhone!!)
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:40 pm (UTC)
HOORAYS. Oh, you can beg and plead all you'd like, the story is pretty much told, though. IDK about a wedding. BUT I AM SO HAPPY YOU ENJOYED THIS MUCH. :D

I didn't want to read this while it was a WIP, but good lord. This was so worth the wait. Just lovely :) ♥
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:41 pm (UTC)
Oh, it never was a WiP (I don't post unless I have a completed story) but I am so happy you enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to comment!
Dec. 25th, 2011 04:24 pm (UTC)
I haven't actually read the epilogue yet, but I'm commenting now because I'm short on time - I loved this whole universe, falling in love in a mature way. It was fantastic how everyone was so conscious of what he was doing, everything had weight, nothing was frantic. It was lovely.

Also, the other day I witnessed a scene between father/daughter and thought of you. "Some people aren't fit for the job. They just - hmm." (Or something like that? I don't remember which part it was, to look it up.) Yeah, no words. They just aren't.
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:47 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much for that, I'm so happy you felt it was mature and well paced, that is some seriously awesome feedback. <3

Oy to that dad - there are a lot of parents out there unworthy of the title. :( *hugs*

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
