Author: Stoney
Title: Where There's Smoke [The EPILOGUE]
Rating: Fer Errbody (overall rated M: be old enough to not put me in jail, pls.)
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine, Wes and David friendship, mentions of former Finn/Rachel
Word Count: 2400/100,000
Warnings: Kurt finally hangs out at the fire station. Guess what happens? (Be prepared, my firefighter daughters, for intense situations)
Summary: Fireman AU. A few months down the road.
A/N: This wouldn't exist (no, truly, I almost deleted it) without the most amazing editor a person could ask for, flaming_muse. Any remaining errors fall squarely on her my shoulders. I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY YOUR RESPONSE. Unbelievably gratifying, thank you so much, each and every one of you.

It wasn’t usually this cold in New York City by November, but the weather apparently didn’t care to stick with the program and was running on a mid-January schedule.Collapse )

This has all been such a pleasure to read. I've really looked forward to your daily updates! Thank you for sharing, this has truly been wonderful :)

P.s. I'm not going to forget the image of firefighter Blaine for a LONG time. Yum. :D

Thank you so, so much!! I appreciate that. And yeah - firefighter!Blaine is DELICIOUS to me, too. Ha!

i've been running late - since we celebrate both Yule and Christmas - but i've read it all now.

and like i said before - this is REAL! SOMEWHERE [a specific where, actually] there's a couple, whose names may or may not actually be "Kurt and Blaine" and you've captured their "falling in love" story. i swear, that's what it reads like, Stoney - like it's a REAL STORY that actually happened and you just wrote it down for them!
it's a common conceit with writers [nee Anne Rice] but WOW i'm pretty sure this is the first time i've read it and believed it! [well - you haven't actually said that that's what you're doing, because it isn't, but if you DID say it, i'd be believing it!]

you are my heroine! i can't freaking WAIT to BUY YOUR BOOKS, woman!

and that new version of the firefighter's prayer - that brought [more] tears to my eyes.
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:49 pm (UTC)
I'm s glad you enjoyed this all the way through, thank you for that! Kurt just really needed that prayer to reflect more than just one ideal, so that's awesome that it worked out, too. :D

also - at 180 pages [as a PFD] it *IS* a full-length novel!

and so, so, so beautiful and romantic and, and, and PERFECT! [and i don't like romance novels! but i ADORE this one!]

ok - i'm gonna stop gushing now...

This was beautiful! A very satisfying ending I must say. While I am sad it's done, I am still so happy for these two.
I know I'll be coming back to reread this whenever I'm having a bad day because I have never smiled or grinned so much while reading any other story! I hope we get more wonderful stories from you this coming year <3
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:50 pm (UTC)
Oh, THANK YOU for saying the ending was satisfying (and not that you expect another 50,000 words right off the bat, hahaha.) I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed it (enough to come back, too!)

Muchas, muchas gracias. And have a wonderful New Years! <3

I'm sorry I never got to comment on the last couple chapters, but I ended up reading them at work on my phone in a rush and kept getting interrupted.

This fic goes down as one of my top five Klaine fics EVER. It is beautifully written and you have ruined firefighters for me forever because I will always expect a head full of curls under those helmets now.

Your voices were perfect and the boys were SO precious and SO endearing ... I LOOOOVED it. (Also? I want the celebration of Blaine's 27th birthday. And I love Kurt's plaque. And and and everything about this fic was perrrrrfect!!)
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:51 pm (UTC)
I'm so happy you were able to come back to the story, and that it was still satisfying for you! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH. (And haha, I imagine a head full of curls under those helmets, too. LOL.)

I really appreciate you reading, sticking with me through the whole thing, and taking the time for all of the comments you've left me. I've been grateful for every one of them. *massive hugs*

Lovely, lovely fic. This is one of those stories that sticks with me and requires numerous re-reads.

I love that you're planning more for this universe. Would you do anything from Blaine's POV?

Also, THANK YOU for the PDF!!!
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:54 pm (UTC)
Oh, thank you so very much for saying so! I don't know about too much from Blaine's POV - a lot of people have asked for that. I have a few one-shots outlined, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with the story. WE SHALL SEE.

And you are more than welcome, I'm glad the files are helpful!

Wow, this was a wonderful story!
Loved every bit of it, but especially the idea that they were both so alone and accepted that before finding each other. Does that make sense? I hope so. Blaine's life being nothing but work. And Kurt figuring he would never find someone to accept and love him for who he truly is.
You wrote a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:56 pm (UTC)
Thank you very much!! Oh, I LOVE your comment, yes it makes sense and that is pretty much what I wanted to convey - they were good, solid people on their own. They didn't need someone to fix them or complete them, just compliment the other. :D

Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment, I truly appreciate that. <3

So, like, I just spent a large portion of Boxing Day ignoring my family because I started to read this after everyone went to bed last night and I couldn't stop. Just, amazing.

So, so much love for this. You've done a brilliant job.

Hahahaha, well, sorry, family? HEE. Thank you very much - for reading and for taking the time to let me know what you thought. Happy holidays!

Whew, I'm happy it lived up to any hype, as well! <3 Thank you very much! I do love NYC, but it's not for everyone, that's true. I'm glad I could find a way to put that into words for you!! (I mean, really, cages on the trees? Who's stealing trees? ;D)

I appreciate this, thank you so much.

Oh God...I'm almost crying here...this story was...really I'm speechless, it was perfect and it moved me so much! Thank you for writing this! <3
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:59 pm (UTC)
NO! NO CRYING!! *holds you* (I'm just kidding, I LOVE IT.) Thank YOU so much for reading and letting me know what you thought! Have a WONDERFUL holiday.

This was absolutely AMAZING!!! I don't think I've ever commented on a chapter but this was a truly remarkable story, just really perfect. Your writing is phenomenal!
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:59 pm (UTC)
Why, thank you!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story, and I'm very grateful for your comment, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Dear child,

You did an AMAZING job. You are insanely creative. I absolutely LOVE what you've done with this story. You write like a dream.

I can't even.

I just can't.

You need to never stop writing. Ever. It is so glaringly obvious that you put the time and effort into fully researching everything to make this story 100% believable, and I am SO thankful for that. You made this story into something very, very real. Your dedication is SO admirable, and I hope you never ever stop writing. Ever.

I felt every little emotion with them. I felt heartbroken when Kurt felt rejected and lonely. I felt giddy and nearly swooned every time either of them was fluffy. I felt so panicked and had a huge adrenaline rush every time Blaine and his crew were called to a fire. You write so beautifully, and with your penchant for analysing life and sharing thoughts and feelings, I felt like I fully understood Kurt.

Amazing, amazing job. Just amazing. :D

Dear Mom,
YOU ARE THE BEST. All of the cookies and support you gave me made me who I am today. Love, your child. (Heeeeeee.)

THANK YOU. Thank you so, so much. I'm so happy that this felt believable and realistic, I definitely wanted that to be the end result, so YAY! Really, thank you very much for reading, for commenting, and especially for letting me know how you cheered and rooted alongside the boys. Best response ever. <3

Part of me is happy to see this ending (and oh how sweet and perfect it is!) but another part is sad to see that I won't be waking up to anymore firefighter!Blaine & star!Kurt :(
lol. oh my gosh i <3 you so.
Dec. 27th, 2011 05:02 pm (UTC)
I'm so glad that SOMEONE is glad this had an actual ending! LOL. WHEW. But I've felt weird not posting every morning since it finished, too, so I get it. :) THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. I've appreciated every single comment you've been gracious enough to leave me. *hugs*
Dec. 27th, 2011 03:28 am (UTC)
Loved this story! Is it wrong that I would like to see a one shot where Blaine does get hurt and Kurt has to deal with him going to the hospital then taking care of him? I hope not because I would really love to see that!
Dec. 27th, 2011 05:03 pm (UTC)
I don't think that's wrong! I just don't know that I'll write it, lol. :D (I do have a few one-shots prepared, but you'll just have to wait and see how those turn out - they may be junk, IDK.)

BUT. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:23 am (UTC)
Yes! I've finally read it! I got your reply in the car and I totally tried to read it on my phone but I just couldn't do it sorry.

You know I love this story, and Fireman!Blaine AUs need to happen more...especially if they're written by you ;). Such a beautiful ending, they're so cute together.

I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Dec. 27th, 2011 05:04 pm (UTC)
Oh, don't read in the car, unless you weren't driving, in which case: CARRY ON! :D

I'm so happy you enjoyed this, THANK YOU. Every comment you've left me has been so sweet and encouraging, I'm so grateful for that! Thanks so much for the support, and I hope you have a LOVELY holiday. *hugs*

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
