Title: Where There's Smoke [The EPILOGUE]
Rating: Fer Errbody (overall rated M: be old enough to not put me in jail, pls.)
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine, Wes and David friendship, mentions of former Finn/Rachel
Word Count: 2400/100,000
Warnings: Kurt finally hangs out at the fire station. Guess what happens? (Be prepared, my firefighter daughters, for intense situations)
Summary: Fireman AU. A few months down the road.
A/N: This wouldn't exist (no, truly, I almost deleted it) without the most amazing editor a person could ask for, flaming_muse. Any remaining errors fall squarely on her my shoulders. I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY YOUR RESPONSE. Unbelievably gratifying, thank you so much, each and every one of you.

It wasn’t usually this cold in New York City by November, but the weather apparently didn’t care to stick with the program and was running on a mid-January schedule.Collapse )

I'm finally writing a comment for this story.
I've been eagerly waiting for each new update and I loved reading through all of them. The whole idea is brillant and from the very start I just loved it§
I also loved the way you wrote Kurt and Blaine in this, you can't help but feel for them in every scenes they got.
The worst part was when there was that huge fire and Kurt was at the station waiting, you owe me a box of tissues for that one! It was so powerful and poignant and I after that, I really hoped that it would not happen again. I really hope that Blaine won't once leave the station for an intervention and never come back.
I also loved your Burt and Kurt scenes especially the phone call.
I was also really happy that Kurt finally got his break, it was about time ^^
Anyway, thank you so much for sharing this great au with us. I really loved the way you ended it :)

I'm so glad to know you've been enjoying this, THANK YOU for that!! Ha, you're on your own for tissues, though! ;)

Really, thank you for taking the time to read and then letting me know your thoughts, I appreciate that so much. Have a WONDERFUL New Year!

This is magnificent and beautiful and I'm going to download the ebook and re-read it always. Just. Thank you.

(Also omg you wrote those amazing Twilight/LDS posts? Excuse me while I just sit over here, star-struck.)

THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH. I'm glad the ebooks are useful, as well!

And haha, YEP, THAT IS ME, #1 Internet Dork. :)

Gah. My nose and burning and my eyes are welling with tears. This has got to be one of the most " Why can't I have a love like that?!" fics, i've read in a good while. One where everything is BLISS and nothing hurts. Im so envious of Kurt ans Blaines everything, yet overwhelmingly happy for them. Geez, it's so beatiful!

You are an amazing storyteller! And i commend you for not post this all at once. A daunting story like this must have took a bit to outline and write, were you anxious to share your progress? I seek novel-length fics on a daily basis, i dont know why i wanted to wait til this was completely posted when i've started multipart WIPs like it was nothing.

"...I'm so proud to be with you"

He whispered into Blaine’s ear, “I hope so. I want you to be.”

This wasn't the only Klaine-canon exchange (you know my coffee order?) but I love the line reversal! And these words seemed very apt for the situation.

Also, Cant find Cole P "Still have my health" on youtube except other covers.

Thank you for the pictures of your musings! I appreciate the thought you put into each place, i always loved the way those neighborhoods look... My mom might those brownstones (?) dont merit the word "house" though, due to them being so close rogether, no driveway, etc.

(Pfft, typos in comments, who cares about that? Not me! :D)

AWWW, I'm so happy you loved this story, THANK YOU!! (But...they got all of their fears and hurts and worries out early and I left you with the PRETTY PARTS. So do not fret.)

Thank you so, so much for reading along, for taking the time to comment, and for your sweet compliments, especially, I truly appreciate that. And as for being nervous, I mentioned elsewhere that I almost deleted the whole file! So I'm REALLY glad that people seem to be liking it! :)

Well, Cole Porter was just a song writer, so if you can find Judy Garland singing it, you've got the best one. I'm sure it's still only on record, unfortunately, it's an old number. (But a great one!) And ha, your mother might not think so, but try telling the people that live there it's not a house! (They have parking in the back, nice big yards, too!) <3

Thank you, again.

Sorry for the typos! Its 4 AM... Anyway, i had a strong image of Blaine posing as "Mr. July" or something for a fireman calendar spread. For charity! And Kurt sits in on the shoot, for errr support.that'd be sexy ( and a rarely use that word)

And did Rachel ever get her Broadway dream and continue dating David?

(Ah, but that's Rachel's story! That one will have to be it's own fic. :D)

I absolutely adore this fic. A million thanks for writing it! <3

Definitely one of my favorite Klaine fics. :)

No, I'm kidding. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea...
But this story was absolutely amazing! It's definitely one of my favourites.
Thank you for writing such a lovely story :)

I am SO HAPPY you enjoyed this, thank you so much for telling me! <3

(And I've been writing little moments that didn't work for this story but can stand on their own, so those will pop up over the next few weeks. :D)

So I waited until it was all posted, and then downloaded a lovely ebook version and read it all in one sitting. This was just glorious. It was a great read - cute and funny in the beginning with just the right amount of angst and stress as Kurt tried to work out his feelings about the job. It was just a really enjoyable journey and thank you so much for writing it :)

Will undoubtedly be reading it again soon. It must have been an enormous effort so thank you.
Dec. 29th, 2011 03:46 pm (UTC)
That was a long sitting! :D And thank you so much, for reading, for coming back to leave a comment... I appreciate your doing so! So glad it balanced out for you. Thank you. <3

First I have to say thank you so much for the full-story PDF/ePub links. It made it so much easier to read this, which I did, pausing only when I actually fell asleep in bed with the laptop on my stomach, waking in a panic that it was going to slide off to the floor, then finally saving the rest to finish this morning. But that's more than you needed to know.

Loved it. I'm not usually a fan of AUs for fictional characters, but there was so much canon wrapped up in the story that it worked incredibly well. The detail of their world was so deep and believable, and the relationship progressed so well- not overly formulaic or rushed but in the most natural way. Truly, loved, loved, loved this story. It was the perfect way to spend an evening of my winter vacation.
Dec. 29th, 2011 05:21 pm (UTC)
Oh, you are so welcome for the file! (I prefer reading fanfic on my Kindle, too.)

AUs can be tricky, you're right. We get so invested in these characters, that sometimes it's off putting to find them in a completely bizarre scenario. Having said that, I am SO PLEASED and GRATEFUL that you took a chance out of your comfort zone! And thank you so much for your kind words, I'm so happy you enjoyed this! Thank you for taking the time to tell me.

I feel bad for not commenting earlier, but I read the last chapters over the holidays and was always called away by family members, so I just kept the squeeing internal. Or at least I tried lol

I love this fic so much! Actually, I have started to reread the earlier chapters. And I'm going to take the pdf as well. Just in case ;)

Thanks so much for writing this xoxo

Oh, commenting now is PERFECTLY AWESOME from my perspective, no worries! :D

And thank you so much, I'm so happy to know you enjoyed it and that the file will be useful! Thank YOU for reading! <3

Just wanted you to know...I had the most gloriously slothful day today...I shipped the kiddos off to daycare, curled up in bed with leftovers and spent the day re-reading this entire story. Life is good. :0) <3

Aww, that's sounds like a GREAT DAY TO ME: leftovers, Klaine, and no worries? LOVELY. :)

<3 to you!
Dec. 30th, 2011 08:00 am (UTC)
Awww... This is a really sweet gift. :) And wow, 27 is young for a captain.

“No, I didn’t bring you a striptease.”

Ha, this is probably some sort of fantasy of Blaine's. To get some action in the office of his firehall. ;)
Dec. 30th, 2011 02:47 pm (UTC)
Well, the whole "his father died and he tried saving him and their captain" thing is why he's captain now. :)

Oh, you know Blaine wouldn't turn his nose up at that! Thanks for reading this story and for each comment!

Ha, I'm so glad you enjoyed this! And I'm VERY glad the file is helpful (I love when I can put fics on my Kindle, so hey, might as well help others. :D)

And I'm glad you enjoyed the pics, too, thank you for telling me!

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
