I was riding a high from yesterday in support of the Dallas Pride Parade and my son taking the last (and huge) step in claiming his sexuality and no longer feeling like he doesn't need to be open to anyone and everyone about who he is.

And today he wore a Human Rights Campaign shirt that we got at Pride yesterday to his school. At 8:35am I got a call from him saying he was being made to either change his shirt or wear it inside out. He hung up to get to his next class on time, so I didn't have time to find out what person on staff to yell at, but when I get him after school today I'll find out exactly who to direct my wrath towards.

What shirt did he have on? Was it the one for Astroglide or Ball-Gags-A-Go-Go? HARDLY. IT WAS THIS ONE.Collapse )

Wow. That is complete bullshit. That shirt is about equal rights. Period. Sex has nothing to do with it. Good on your son for stating his opinion. Bad on the school for not letting him.

Good luck not going apoplectic on someone's ass.

That it can even be equated with sex is just INFURIATING. That says more about the complainer than it does anything else. PAH.

I am working on deep breathing exercises right now, as a matter of fact. ;)

I hope their ears are still ringing tomorrow from the righteous smackdown you lay down.

*hugs* Thanks for the support. *cracks knuckles*

First of all, your son continues to be awesome, second of all, I look forward to hearing about every ass kicked and every name taken.

Third of all, my inner cynic wants to place bets that the excuse given will be that someone mistook (or even more ridiculous, could mistake) something with "Legalize" on it as being pro-drugs.

*facepalm* Oy. Good luck to you with laying the smack down, because that? Is a load of crap.

holy shit, that is fucked up.

I'm horribly offended by that t-shirt. Your son would never get away with it in the UK either.

Legalise should be spelled with an S.

Sep. 17th, 2012 09:23 pm (UTC)
Personally, I'm in favor of rules that say "no words on t-shirts" because teens are going to try to push limits.

But. Since that's not what the rules say, I completely agree with you that "Legalize Gay" in no way promotes sex, or drugs, or rock and roll or anything the administration could reasonably object too.

Now, where do I send that can of whup-ass?

PS -- I have cousins in Alvarado and Cleburne. Is that near your neck of the woods?

Your son is SOOO cool! Good on him!

However this school!? Not so much. I can NOT wrap my head around that being an "inappropriate" shirt, when a kid at my old HS got away with a Tshirt on a weekly basis that said "Play gently with my wiener" with a picture of a cat, a picture of a dog, and then a picture of another cat. Hmmmm. Although hilarious, THAT shirt totally would fit the category.

If I was your son I probably would have refused to turn it out, lol. But seriously, if that's a problem then those kids holding hands down the hall should be inappropriate, and those kids kissing goodbye as the bell rings should be inappropriate, am I right!?

Gay = The Butt Sex.

That's how some people see it. They're obsessed with gay sex to a degree that's unnerving. That's why so many militant homophobes end up coming out of the closet, and by that I mean public restroom.

Heterosexuals can be people, homosexuals end up being fetishised about nothing more than about what goes where. Straight = a person. Gay = a sex act. Bleurgh.

Good God. This is absurd. What is wrong with these people?

Kick their asses and take their names, Stoney.

I can't wait to hear how it goes. I'm so glad he has you in his corner, and simultaneously sad that he lives in a world where he has to deal with this shit. Because he shouldn't have to.

Are You Actually

Reading this? I'm just curious. Because that's really detail-oriented of you. Feel free to stop reading. But you can see that there's more here, so are you going to keep reading? Really? That's pretty dedicated. I'm impressed. No, really. I'm not being sarcastic, why do you get like that? See, this is the problem I have with your mother - yes. YES. I'm going there. It's time we put all of our cards on the table.

I love you, why are you doing this? After all we've been through? You don't have to be like this. You know, still reading. You could be baking a pie. And then sharing it with me.
